DASA Honey

In addition to art, I also started an apiary during COVID.  I started the project in order to get outdoors when indoors was unsafe, to do something active and pro-active about the environment.  Bees are in trouble. Climate change is effecting the delicate balance they need to survive... the delicate balance we need for them to pollinate our fruits and vegetables.  Bees are responsible for pollinating TWO - THIRDS of our fruits and vegetables.

I produce a raw and unheated honey at Vasa Park in Budd Lake, NJ.  Vasa Park is a Scandinavian cultural organization that sits on a pristine 126 acres with a tributary to the Raritan River running right past my yard.  90 of the 126 acres is woodlands.  In addition to producing a superior honey, I also offer presentations on bees and beekeeping for children.

In a desire to do this in a echo friendly way, I only buy glass jars with metals lids made in upstate New York.  They are slightly more expensive but marginally so and it's so much better than buying jars overseas and having them shipped with fossil fuels half way around the world.  They are better jars too.  The lids are more secure and the money spent is going to US workers.

Contact me for honey or for presentation details.
